World Environmental Day 2020
Celebrated on 15th June this year, was the biggest annual event of the world run by the United Nations, to mark the importance of the environment, which is "The World Environment Day"with "biodiversity" as the theme for 2020, which has been a great concern at present, since we can remarkably see biodiversity is in a reduction due to environmental occurrences as well as human activities.
Looking back on the very first celebrations, The World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in the year of 1972, during the Stockholm Conference on "The Human Environment" After two years of the initial idea, World Environment day was held for the very first time in 1974 with the theme "Only One Earth" and ever since, The World Environment Day is being celebrated on 5th June of every year and this year, Columbia had the privilege of being the host country of this huge global event.
A day taken to spread awareness of the importance of the environment increases steps taken to conserve the environment. On this day, various measures are taken throughout the world in different organizations as well as communities for environment protection and to improve the Earth's environment. Even in a household, when individuals contribute to saving the environment by small steps like planting a tree , there will be so many trees planted over the world and it will help the environment heal. But what we should know is that, the environment and nature needs saving everyday and not only on this special day. After all, if we save our Environment, The Environment will save us!
