This impactful initiative was held at the Pulinathalarama Temple in North Kalutara. The main objective of the "Suwadharani" project is to pave the way for a diabetes-free tomorrow by organizing dedicated medical clinics to support public health. As the second phase of this mission, we conducted a comprehensive medical clinic for the residents of the area. With the active participation of qualified doctors, we performed diabetes screenings and blood sugar tests for a large number of participants.   Prarthana 8.0 Phase One: Building Unity Through Culture and Language Leo Club of University of Colombo successfully carried out the first phase of Prarthana 8.0, a community initiative designed to promote peace, cultural harmony, and mutual understanding among school children. This phase was implemented through two meaningful initiatives: Culture Harmonies and Unity Words, each addressing key social challenges faced by young communities in Sri Lanka. The first initiative, Culture Harmonies , was organized as a cultural program at a school that had not previously hosted such an event. The primary objective of this initiative was to create awareness among children about caste, religion and social differences, while encouraging acceptance and respect to reduce discrimination from a young age.   Project Off-Grid First Phase -SDG Lens Project Off-Grid is a youth-led initiative that focuses on bringing attention to the less-focused Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and encouraging meaningful action to achieve them. The project promotes global collaboration among young leaders, and in its initial stage , more than 20 foreign Leo Clubs joined hands with us. Highlighting the strong international spirit behind the initiative and reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility in achieving sustainable development. The first phase of the project, “SDG Lens,” was successfully concluded on 1st February via Zoom, with the participation of numerous Leos from Sri Lanka and partner countries.   Project ආරක්ෂා Bus Repair Project: Phase 04   The Leo Club of University of Colombo proudly marks the successful completion of four out of six phases of its ongoing project, Project Araksha. Through this initiative, we support the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) by repairing bus braking systems to enhance the safety and reliability of public transportation. On Wednesday, 28th January, a group of enthusiastic school students from Gampaha Bandaranaike Vidyalaya stepped into a world where theory met practice and curiosity met opportunity. Limited access to menstrual hygiene products, the absence of proper disposal facilities, and a lack of accurate and culturally appropriate information often create barriers to girls’ health, confidence and uninterrupted education.
