“If we desire peace, we must prepare for peace. The most important thing is to build a culture of peace” -Anwarul Chowdhury- Leo Club of University of Colombo organized the project “ ප්‍රාර්ථනා” to spread love, peace and unity among our community. Mainly this project was built up upon peace, religion, cultural activities and languages. Here we address the Goal 16- “Peace, justice and strong institutions which has been published under United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This project was implemented in three different phases. Based on our objectives and focusing on collaboration among the religions, the first phase of project “ ප්‍රාර්ථනා” was successfully completed on the 27th of November 2020. As per our schedule, three teams went to the Sri Angala Parameshwari Amman kovil, Hilur Jumma Masjid Kaluthara, Dharmadutha temple Narahenpita and Kaluaggala Wikshopamatha church. The second phase of project "Sindu Nala Raksha" was successfully completed on 13th of January 2021, as a campaign of mangrove replantation. In an era of higher mangrove pollution & destruction, the need of mangrove conservation was identified by the Leo Club of University of Colombo & was set as the main focus of the second phase of project Sindu Nala Raksha. The main objective of this phase of the project was to strengthen the protection of mangrove ecosystems, as mangrove ecosystems play an important role providing habitats for hundreds of species and also helping to protect the shorelines from erosion. Although the mangroves are very important for the existence of the earth, the society does not pay enough attention to protect and improve the mangrove ecosystems. Home gardening is a part of the agriculture and food production system in many developing countries and is widely used as a remedy to alleviate the global food crisis.
