Kruthaguna 4.0
Ensuring and uplifting the physical and mental status of senior citizens should be paid more attention where the population is rapidly aging. By taking this into consideration Leos of University of Colombo has organized the project “Kruthaguna 4.0” for the fourth consecutive year under the category of “Senior Citizen Development”.
The physical health of them should be maintained in a good manner and enough attention should be paid on having regular medical check ups and recognizing whether there are any diseases in their bodies or not. Due to various reasons people ignore the medical check-up which is mandatory in their old age. Therefore, as the first phase of the project, a medical check-up campaign for senior citizens was organized on 19th of December 2021 at Dharma Shasthrodaya Piriven at Piliyandala from 08.00 am to 3.00 pm.
The event had begun with a brief explanation by Dr. Upul Rodrigo, the District Medical Officer of Piliyandala District Hospital about various non communicable illnesses faced by people. Therefore, the participants were able to obtain knowledge on those sicknesses and the necessity of having a proper medical check-up. With the aim of uplifting the health status of them, various consultations were done on non-communicable diseases such as Pressure, Diabetes, Cholesterol etc with the contribution of Doctors and Medical Assistants. Moreover, all the participants who need further medical advice were directed to the Doctor. At the end of the program, Leos gave refreshments for all those who participated in the campaign.
Majority of those who participated the campaign were grateful for this noble cause. Therefore, we UOC Leos hope that through this check up campaign we would be able to uplift the physical wellbeing of Senior Citizens.
