                 කෘතගුණ 7.0 - Phase 02               "දෑතේ දිරියෙන් නවමු මග" Leo club of University of Colombo successfully organized project "කෘතගුණ 7.0" aimed at empowering individuals over 50 by providing them with knowledge and skills for self employment. Recognizing the challenges faced by elders in securing financial independence, we initiated this phase as "සවිමත් හෙටක්" to guide them towards entrepreneurship. This project sought to inspire and equip participants with essential business insights, ensuring they could generate income independently.  The first session was conducted by Mrs. Nayana Kumudini, an experienced human resource management officer, who provided an insightful discussion on entrepreneurship and human resources management.                 Sasiri Hetak (Phase 06)   The root of education is bitter, but the fruit is sweet. The Leo Club of the University of Colombo successfully completed the sixth phase of the ongoing “Sasiri Hetak” school renovation project at Ballapitiya Primary College on February 24, 2025. This meaningful initiative aimed to enhance the learning environment for both students and teachers, creating a more comfortable and inspiring space that fosters effective education. As part of this phase, the club undertook the refurbishment of a classroom, revitalizing the school’s infrastructure. The renovations included repainting the classroom, beautifying the interiors, and constructing a flower bed in front of the classroom to plant flower plants. Project Care Gen - Phase 01

                Care Gen – Phase 1: Heal Art             “A Step Towards Healthier Futures” The Leo Club of the University of Colombo launched the Care Gen project to promote community well-being through health awareness and creative expression. The first phase, Heal Art, took place on February 19, 2025, at Sri Medananda Maha Vidyalaya, Deepangoda, gathering 400 students, teachers, and parents for a day of learning and engagement. The event began at 8:30 AM with a welcome speech acknowledging the school principal, public health inspectors, doctors, and nurses. A medical clinic in the main hall provided essential health screenings for students, measuring height, weight, and BMI, with further evaluation by doctors when necessary.   Leo Club of University of Colombo proudly participated in the Mehndi Stall on February 11, 2025, at the Faculty of Management canteen, University of Colombo. Open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the stall combined fun and fundraising, showcasing the dedication and energy of our club members. Our goal was to raise Rs. 20,000, and we are happy to announce that we earned Rs.18,000 in revenue. After covering the costs, we achieved a profit of Rs.12,000. We applied mehndi to many hands, charging Rs. 150 to Rs. 400 per design. The positive feedback from customers inspired us to strive even further. The event highlighted the power of teamwork and our shared mission to create meaningful change. We extend our gratitude to the fundraising task force and all our customers for their support in making the Mehndi Stall a success. Sindu Nala Raksha 8.0 - Phase 03

    Sindu Nala Raksha 8.0 – Threads of Hope The final phase of Sindu Nala Raksha 8.0 – Threads of Hope was a powerful step towards marine conservation, as we took action to protect and restore the Dodanduwa Coastal Area, Galle. With the combined efforts of passionate volunteers from the Society of Oceanography and Marine Geology, University of Ruhuna and committed project members, we successfully conducted an underwater cleanup and beach cleanup, making a tangible impact on our environment. A major part of this initiative was the underwater cleanup, conducted with the guidance and expertise of the "Dodanduwa Diving and Water Sports Club". The diving sessions were carried out by skilled divers from the Society of Oceanography and Marine Geology, University of Ruhuna, who played a crucial role in retrieving abandoned fishing nets and other debris that had been strangling marine ecosystems beneath the waves. Weaving Dreams of Joy and Hope in Little Hearts “Sihina Geththam”, the second phase an inspiring initiative by Leo Club of University of Colombo under Alert 8.0, has been a heartwarming journey filled with love, laughter, and the purest joy. Led by the dedicated Leo Nethmi Amaya, this project has been a beacon of kindness and compassion, creating unforgettable memories and touching lives in the most meaningful way. The first part of this phase, held on December 27th, 2024, at the Suwa Arana Center of the Indira Cancer Trust in Maharagama, was nothing short of magical. We came together to celebrate Christmas with children who are facing battles beyond their years. This special Christmas program not only brought warmth and cheer to their hearts but also provided them with stationary for their mental well-being and hygiene kits for their parents.
