  Ensuring and uplifting the physical and mental status of senior citizens should be paid more attention where the population is rapidly aging. By taking this into consideration Leos of University of Colombo has organized the project “Kruthaguna 4.0” for the fourth consecutive year under the category of “Senior Citizen Development”.  From the overall population of Sri Lanka around 2.3 Mn is represented by the senior citizens who are above 55 years. Senior citizens are a valuable asset mainly because they are the ones who have gained a sound knowledge and great experience. A country can make use of these knowledge and experience in a more productive way for the development of a country. Therefore, it is our responsibility to protect them and ensure that they are secured. The physical health of them should be maintained in a good manner and enough attention should be paid on having regular medical check ups and recognizing whether there are any diseases in their bodies or not. “හිතැති මනුදම” | Phase 3 of the Project Be their Vision 6.0

  Be Their Vision is a project executed under the Category of Vision by the Leo Club of University Colombo for the sixth consecutive year. After successfully completing the first two phases, the third step, which involved an equipment donation to the National Eye Hospital's Vision Therapy Unit, was completed on February 3, 2022. Vision therapy is a progressive program of vision procedures, customized to fit the visual needs of each patient, and it may be used to treat problems such as amblyopia (lazy eye), eye alignment, and coordination problems (including turned eyes or squints), poor focus, and inadequate eye-hand coordination. Although the Department of Optometry of National Eye Hospital of Sri Lanka currently conducts clinical refraction to address eye-related issues, there are identified gaps in some cases, and appropriate analysis and differential diagnosis do not take place due to the existing setup, where it should come under vision therapy.   Project නිසාගිනි of Leo Club of the University of Colombo focuses on relieving hunger and promoting health. Following its original aim in contributing to these Sustainable Development Goals, නිසාගිනි 4.0 is organized as a three-phased project. The first phase, “පළමු කට #The First Bite” was successfully completed on 16th of January via Zoom platform and the session was also live-streamed via Facebook. The session was conducted on these online platforms enabling the public to be able to access the session comfortably, and effectively without facing any difficulty. This session was conducted bilingually on the theme “Food Patterns and Healthy Eating” from 6.30 P.M onwards, with the collaboration of Dr. Himalee De Silva, Senior Lecturer, Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo. Miles of Smiles - Phase 03 ❤

  Project “Miles of Smiles 3.0” is conducted by Leo Club of University of Colombo under the category of “Spotlight on children”. The project comes under “Sustainable Development Goal - Number 4 - Quality Education” and mainly focusing the subgoals as Target 4.1- free Primary and Secondary Education, Target 4.5 - Eliminate all discrimination in education and Target 4.A - build and upgrade inclusive and safe schools. The third phase of the project is conducted aligned with Target 4.5 - ensure equal access to education for the children in vulnerable situations. It was conducted in 2 places as a book donation for the underprivileged children for the school year 2022 which will begin in March. The venues were Sri Susila Kanishta Vidyalaya- Urapola and Thalpawila Central College - Dondra. By coordination of the academic staff of the respective schools, we identified the kids who are facing the highest financial difficulties. “Diabcure 4.0”

  “Diabcure 4.0” is a project that was established for the fourth consecutive time by the Leo Club of University with the goal of providing medical assistance the people who have been diagnosed with diabetes and to educate individuals on how to avoid becoming diabetic patients in the future. Diabetes is a long-term condition marked by high blood sugar levels. Once you're diagnosed with diabetes, you will need to keep a track of your blood sugar levels and control the disease through food and exercises. Many diabetics might not realize they have the disease until their blood sugar levels are checked. So, in order to offer early check-ups, Diabcure team thought of implementing a medical checkup camp as the second phase of Diabcure 4.0 under the name “Suwajeewa”. A cancer-free world for a healthy future

Based on the concept of 'Tomorrow without Cancer', the Leo Club of University of Colombo was able to successfully complete the project Alert 5.0 in three phases. The Leo members would like to acknowledge that the large number of sponsors who were there from the beginning to the end has been a major factor in its success.S G Actuarial Consultancy ( Pvt) ltd, was the main sponsor and it is a company which offer Risk management consulting services and training courses. Astron Pharmacy was the co-sponsor of this event.   Today's society is primarily prone to many diseases due to the lack of awareness among the people about the disease.   An awareness program was successfully completed on 30th October 2021 with the participation of over 200 people via zoom platform. The zoom session was conducted by Dr. Sanjeewa Gunasekara, a Paediatric Oncologist at Maharagama National Cancer Hospital. A life hope towards gasping breath

  The Alert 5.0 project, organized by the Leo Club of the University of Colombo, which operates under District 306 C1 in Colombo District, is planned to be implemented in three phases, striving to add a sense of purpose to life.   Accordingly, with the successful completion of the first phase of the project, 'Prana Suraksha’, the Leo members prepared for the second phase of the project. You all know how tragic childhood cancer is and that it is spreading rapidly in the society at present. The number of childhood cancer patients diagnosed day by day is increasing. The second phase of the project was named 'Apeksha' with the aim of adding another day to the fate of those little flower buds who are the owners of tomorrow.   A program to donate toothpaste, face masks and other essential items and to donate essential medicines required for those pediatric wards was held on 23rd December 2021 with the participation of members of the Leo Club of University of Colombo.   We are ple
