  Safe Steps – Phase 03: සුව මංපෙත් On April 30, 2026, from 8.30 a.m. to approximately 1.00 p.m., Leo Club of the University of Colombo successfully carried out the third phase of the Safe Steps Project under the theme “ සුව මංපෙත්,” along the Baseline Road in the Orugodawatta–Dematagoda area.   The Safe Steps project is a three-stage initiative dedicated to reducing crimes and accidents in society through awareness and practical action. While the previous phase focused on empowering youth with knowledge on cyber safety and self-defense, this phase turned its attention to road safety an issue that affects thousands of lives every single day. Baseline Road was carefully selected for this initiative as it is a highly congested and accident-prone area. Healing Aura – Phase 03: Care Today, Cure Tomorrow Turning effort into impact, even when the journey wasn’t easy. Every project looks smooth from the outside. But behind the scenes, there’s always a different story. Healing Aura – Phase 03: Care Today, Cure Tomorrow was not something that came together easily. There were delays, last-minute changes, and moments where things didn’t go as planned. At times, it felt overwhelming. But step by step, the team kept going adjusting, pushing through, and refusing to give up on what we started.   “ Mathin Thora Hetak ” Phase  3   –   “Soduru wadanak – Mathata thithak” Leo Club of the University of Colombo held the third phase of the  “Mathin Thora Hetak ( For a tomorrow from drug free )”  project  via online on 25 th  April  2026, furthering its mission to raise awareness about drug abuse prevention among young people. This phase featured an interactive and impactful speech competition titled  “Sonduru Wadanak, Mathata Thithak,”  aiming to inspire youth to use their voices to promote a drug-free society. The competition  showed  a group of inspiring young speakers who delivered powerful speeches on the devastating consequences of drug  addiction.   Project  දිවිසරු   -  “ ජීවිතය ජීවත් කරවන්නට ” 3 rd  Phase  -  තුරුණු සවි Project  දිවිසරු  is a  project under poverty & better life category  which is  dedicated to uplifting vulnerable communities. In  our  first  phase  -  වැඩ ලොවට   අත්වැලක් , tools and equipment were provided to strengthen vocational training at Puttalam Wilpotha Bandaranayake School.  The second phase  -   දිරි   දිවි , empowered 30 low income families in the Biyagama Secretarial Division by introducing soap production as a sustainable self employment opportunity.   Celebrating and Empowering Women Batik Entrepreneurs On 27th March 2026, the first initiative of the third phase of Project  Abhimani  was successfully carried out at the auditorium of the National Crafts Council. This initial step functioned as a preliminary session aimed at empowering small-scale women entrepreneurs who had completed NVQ Level 3 in batik design. The initiative began with calling applications for the grand finale competition, followed by a comprehensive workshop designed to guide and prepare the participants. During the session, participants were educated on the competition guidelines, marking criteria, and essential marketing strategies relevant to the batik industry.
