Project Infinity - Phase 02: Leo Sports Fiesta
Invitational University Weightlifting Championship
Strength, determination, and unity took center stage as Phase 02 of Project Infinity unfolded as the “Leo Sports Fiesta”, marking a significant milestone in fostering inter-university sportsmanship and collaboration. Organized by Leo Club of University of Colombo, this phase proudly presented an Invitational Inter-University Weightlifting Championship, bringing together some of the finest young athletes across universities.
Held at the Indoor Stadium of the University of Colombo on 09th of April 2026, the championship created a vibrant and energetic atmosphere from the very beginning. Athletes representing universities such as the University of Colombo, University of Kelaniya, University of Moratuwa, Samabaragmuwa University of Sri Lanka, University of Ruhuna and University of Sri Jayawardhanapura showcased exceptional strength, discipline, and dedication. Each lift reflected not only physical power but also the countless hours of training, resilience, and determination behind the scenes.
The event was more than just a competition, it was a celebration of unity through sport. Participants, organizers, and spectators alike came together to witness moments of triumph, perseverance, and mutual respect. The platform allowed athletes to push their limits while fostering friendships and connections that extended beyond university boundaries.
A special highlight of the championship was the collaboration with the Lifting Social team and Physical Education Department of University of Colombo, which added professionalism and technical expertise to the event. Their support ensured that the competition maintained high standards while providing a safe and encouraging environment for all participants.
From the roar of the crowd to the silent focus before each lift, every moment contributed to an unforgettable experience. The championship successfully emphasized the true spirit of sportsmanship where winning was celebrated, effort was respected, and participation itself was valued.
Project Leo Infinity, through this phase, once again demonstrated the power of youth-led initiatives in creating impactful platforms. The Leo Sports Fiesta not only highlighted athletic excellence but also reinforced the values of leadership, teamwork, and service that define the Leo movement.
