All three phases of Eco-Clan were done successfully
Waste Management has become an unquestionable issue in the current context.
Improper disposals and carelessness has created many forms of consequences and inconveniences to the society as a whole.
Our country is currently facing a massive problem regarding disposing of waste. The reason to this is not that Sri Lanka does not have rigid rules and regulations but, the insufficient knowledge and awareness among the community at large. So the Leo club of University of Colombo has undertaken the project Eco – Clan which comes under the category of “Waste Management and Responsible Consumption” as a part contribution to address this issue. We successfully completed our project under 3 phases ; a School Awareness program and distribution of dustbin for that schools, Temple clean-up, Beach clean-up covering 3 main districts Galle, Matara and Colombo in same day, sticker campaign program covering all the faculties in University of Colombo to raise the awareness among students about responsibility consumption and a documentary video about current issues and solutions about waste management in Sri Lanka with responsibility authority. We believe that the project has being able cover all aspects of waste management including energy savings, preventing pollution and sustainability of resources. So lets join together to make a greener future with zero waste!
