Project Sathkara - Phase 01

         ‘’නවම් රටක මනුදම් මෙහෙවරක්”   On January 24th, 2025, Leo Club of Colombo proudly completed the first phase of the "Sathkara" community service project at Wp/Jaya/Vidyawardana Vidyalaya. Staying true to our mission of fostering social sustainability, this phase focused on donating essential school aids to students across all grades, providing them with the resources needed to excel in their educational journey. With the dedicated support of the Oruwala Lion Club, our team worked tirelessly to ensure that each student received a thoughtfully curated educational kit, designed to inspire learning and creativity. The day began with a warm welcome from the school community, setting a heartfelt tone for the project. Nisagini 7.0 - Phase 01

  The නිසාගිනි 𝟳.0 project was implemented with the aim of "Minimizing post-harvest damage" which is common in Sri Lanka. The main objective of this is to promote food safety. Post-harvest damages are about 5% in developed countries and 30% to 40% in agriculturally prosperous Sri Lanka. This project phase named " පසු අස්වනු සුරක්ෂා " was implemented on January 14, 2025 with the aim of reducing the post-harvest damage. A farmer's association in Bulugahapitiya, Rikillagaskada, Nuwara Eliya was selected for the project. At the heart of this mission was to provide useful equipment to the selected farmers' association to reduce the damage caused during the transportation of the post-harvest and to give a lecture on the protection of the post-harvest together with the National Institute of Post-Harvest Management.  The event began at 12:00 PM with the farmers, giving us a warm welcome. Sasiri Hetak - Phase 05

  “Empowering young minds transforms the future” On January 15th, 2025, Leo Club of University of Colombo proudly completed the fifth phase of the "Sasiri Hetak" school renovation project at Halloluwa Primary School, Katugastota. Building on our previous successes, this phase focused on transforming the Grade 4 classroom into an inspiring and welcoming learning space. Our work began with rebuilding damaged walls, followed by painting the entire room to create a bright and cheerful atmosphere. We also refurbished desks and chairs to ensure the students had comfortable and functional furniture. The cool breeze of Kandy city and the rich heritage of the surroundings provided the perfect backdrop as we worked tirelessly over three days to bring this vision to life. To celebrate this, Leo Club of the University of Colombo organized the second phase of its initiative, "Roots and Rhythms," on January 18, 2025. Held at the Home of Hope Child Home in Digana, Kandy, this cultural festival aimed to encourage unity and togetherness among children from various backgrounds. The event featured vibrant performances, including traditional dances and songs representing multiple cultures, creating a lively platform for children to embrace and celebrate diversity. Together As Humans - Phase 01

  Together As Humans 7.0 - Phase 1: Future in Focus         “Empowering Youth, Shaping Future”   On 10th of January, 2025, Leo Club of University of Colombo launched the Together as Humans 7.0 project, starting with its first phase, titled Future in Focus. This phase took place at Kottawa Ananda Maha Vidyalaya and featured a workshop for students preparing for their Ordinary Level Examination in Commerce in collaboration with the AAT institute. The workshop aimed to address the holistic needs of exam-focused students, empowering them to approach their exams with greater confidence, determination, and a balanced perspective, ultimately enhancing their overall success and well-being. Sindu Nala Raksha 8.0 - 2nd Phase

  Sindu Nala Raksha 8.0-2nd Phrase-Nature’s Heir The second phase of Sindu Nala Raksha 8.0-Nature’s Heir took place at the renowned Gagula Weda Madura in Panadura on the 30th of December 2024. This ambitious initiative brought together more than 50 passionate project members, united by a shared commitment to preserving Sri Lanka’s unique biodiversity. The event began at 9:00 AM with a collective effort to clean the herbal garden at Gagula Weda Madura, a center celebrated for its expertise in Sri Lankan hela wedakama and Ayurvedic eye treatments. The participants worked tirelessly, not only revitalizing the garden but also planting over 15 endemic trees and medicinal plants, including species of immense ecological and cultural value such as Mee, Bin kohomba, Nika, Ankenda, and Madara. ViEquality -  "Creating Change, One Voice at a Time" A world whose voices, particularly those of women, have not yet found their full resonance can be found in the peaceful settings of estate villages, which are frequently obstructed by the haze of hard work and traditional customs. In light of this, as the 2nd phase of Project Diyani 8.0, Leo Club of University of Colombo held an awareness campaign on gender equality, equal rights, women's maltreatment, and the value of education. This was held 29th December 2024. The session began with a warm welcome, setting the tone for an open and supportive environment.
