Together As Humans - Phase 01

Together As Humans 7.0 - Phase 1: Future in Focus

        “Empowering Youth, Shaping Future”

On 10th of January, 2025, Leo Club of University of Colombo launched the Together as Humans 7.0 project, starting with its first phase, titled Future in Focus. This phase took place at Kottawa Ananda Maha Vidyalaya and featured a workshop for students preparing for their Ordinary Level Examination in Commerce in collaboration with the AAT institute. The workshop aimed to address the holistic needs of exam-focused students, empowering them to approach their exams with greater confidence, determination, and a balanced perspective, ultimately enhancing their overall success and well-being.

The workshop commenced at 11 a.m. in the college auditorium and was attended by approximately 60 students. It began with an awareness program about the AAT professional qualification, conducted by representatives from the AAT institute. This session provided students with valuable insights into the corporate world and emphasized the importance of being academically and professionally qualified in today’s competitive environment.

At 11:30 a.m., the main workshop activities began, led by the tutor for the workshop, Mr. Nirmal Rajapaksha, a distinguished undergraduate from the University of Colombo. The workshop not only helped students internalize essential concepts and learn efficient mathematical techniques vital for the Commerce paper in the Ordinary Level Examination but also addressed key aspects of wellbeing. Participants learned stress management techniques, goal-setting strategies, and the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between their studies and personal lives.

The first phase concluded with the project chairperson, Leo Binuri Perera, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the workshop's success. She thanked the school Principal and staff, representatives from the AAT institute, Mr. Nirmal Rajapaksha, and the participating students for their invaluable contributions. She also acknowledged the project committee, whose efforts were essential in making the event possible.

The commendations received from the principal, staff, and students confirmed that the first phase, Future in Focus, succeeded in its goal of empowering students to face their exams with increased confidence and determination. With the successful completion of this phase, the project committee is now preparing for the next step: the second phase of the Together as Humans 7.0 project. Stay tuned for updates!
