‘’නවම් රටක මනුදම් මෙහෙවරක්”
On January 24th, 2025, Leo Club of Colombo proudly completed the first phase of the "Sathkara" community service project at Wp/Jaya/Vidyawardana Vidyalaya. Staying true to our mission of fostering social sustainability, this phase focused on donating essential school aids to students across all grades, providing them with the resources needed to excel in their educational journey. With the dedicated support of the Oruwala Lion Club, our team worked tirelessly to ensure that each student received a thoughtfully curated educational kit, designed to inspire learning and creativity.
The day began with a warm welcome from the school community, setting a heartfelt tone for the project. The excitement was palpable as the sun rose over Wp/Jaya/Vidyawardana Vidyalaya, with students eagerly anticipating their new school supplies. Our club members enthusiastically carried out each aspect of the project, ensuring every detail was carefully executed. The smiles on the children's faces and their sheer joy upon receiving their school kits were a testament to the impact of this initiative, reinforcing the importance of service and community support.
The slogan "නවම් රටක මනුදම් මෙහෙවරක්" perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the project, as it went beyond material donations to instill hope and ignite dreams. The handover ceremony was an emotional moment, with the principal, teachers, and parents expressing their heartfelt gratitude for the project’s success. Witnessing the students' excitement and appreciation reaffirmed our commitment to empowering the next generation and reminded us why initiatives like "Sathkara" are so essential in creating a better future.
This project was not just a success but a powerful testament to the Leo Club of Colombo’s unwavering dedication to social sustainability and community upliftment. We extend our deepest gratitude to the principal, staff, students, the Oruwala Lion Club, and all the members of our club, especially our president, vice presidents, and project chairpersons, for their unwavering support and enthusiasm. As we reflect on the first phase of "Sathkara," we are filled with a profound sense of accomplishment and hope. This is only the beginning, and we are excited to continue making a difference, one phase at a time, to transform lives and empower young minds.
