               Sasiri Hetak - Phase 04 Leo Club of  University of Colombo proudly completed the fourth phase of their ongoing "Sasiri Hetak" school renovation project at Handurumulla Gnanadassi Junior College on December 20, 2024. This impactful initiative aimed to create a more comfortable and inspiring environment for both students and teachers, fostering an atmosphere conducive to effective learning and teaching.As part of this phase, the club successfully refurbished six classrooms, breathing new life into the school's infrastructure. The renovations included repainting desks and chairs to restore their vibrancy and functionality and equipping each classroom with a brand-new notice board. විසඳමු - Phase 01

       විසඳමු - Phase o1 - Legal Aid camp The Legal Aid Camp organized by Leo Club of University of Colombo, in collaboration with the Centre for the Study of Human Rights, was a resounding success. Held in Grandpass, the camp began at 10:00 AM and provided vital legal assistance to 54 clients, thanks to the participation of 10 dedicated lawyers, officers from the Human Rights Commission, and representatives from UNDP. The program was further honored by the presence of Leo District President Mr. Nisal Dulmith.  Clients were offered refreshments, while lawyers and volunteers were provided with breakfast, lunch, and evening tea, creating a welcoming and supportive environment. A team of 35 enthusiastic law students passionately supported this legal aid camp, participating in consultation panels alongside seasoned lawyers.              Kruthaguna 7.0 - ඔසු සවි "To care for those who once care for us is one of the highest honors” The first of a series of “ Kruthaguna “ programmes organized by Leo club of University of Colombo was successfully concluded as “osusavi” on 06th December of 2024 at Kaduwela Korathota Rajamaha Viharaya. A large number of medical students from the Faculty of Ayurvedic Medicine of University of Colombo participated in this program. They were the main help in making this program a success. The medical clinic was conducted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. More than 60 elderly people participated in the program, which went beyond the Western system of medicine and put the local system of medicine first. All of them had their blood pressure, cholesterol levels, etc. checked and their physical discomfort was checked and necessary treatment was done for the same.               Eco-Clean: Phase two Eco-Shift    Step Towards a Greener Future was held on 29th November 2024, demonstrating Leo Club of University of Colombo's long-lasting commitment towards preserving the nature. As part of our Eco-Shift phase, the Eco-Clean project has made significant strides towards a sustainable future. We've successfully implemented a novel approach to electronic waste disposal in the Seeduwa-Katunayaka Municipal area by establishing dedicated trash cans for electronic waste. In line with this initiative, we launched a comprehensive poster campaign highlighting the eco-friendly disposal of CFL bulbs. These energy-efficient bulbs, though beneficial, contain mercury, a toxic heavy metal that can have devastating environmental consequences. Poppin' Crunch

                      Poppin' Crunch “A Delicious Success at the Lions Get-Together!” Leo Club of University of Colombo proudly participated in the Lions Get-Together on November 24, 2024, with our vibrant Poppin’ Crunch popcorn stall at the Colombo NCC Ground. Open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the stall combined fun and fundraising, showcasing the dedication and energy of our club members. Our goal was to raise Rs.10,000, and we are thrilled to announce that we surpassed it! Thanks to the collective effort of our Fundraising Task Force and enthusiastic customers, we generated total revenue of Rs.14,600. After covering the costs of ingredients and labor, we achieved a net profit of Rs.3,990.This milestone was reached by selling 73 packets of popcorn, each priced at Rs.200. It was a day unlike any other, as volunteers, teachers, and students came together to create lasting memories.The morning began with an enthusiastic group of volunteers arriving at the school, eager to make a difference in the lives of these extraordinary children.                 Cyber Suraksha -  Phase 01     Empowering Youth to Combat Cyber Crimes! In today’s digital age, where online interactions dominate our personal and professional lives, the risks associated with cyber threats have grown significantly. Recognizing the importance of addressing these dangers, Leo Club of University of Colombo and the Rotaract Club of Ratnapura collaboratively organized project Cyber Suraksha.
