Cyber Suraksha - Phase 01
Empowering Youth to Combat Cyber Crimes!
In today’s digital age, where online interactions dominate our personal and professional lives, the risks associated with cyber threats have grown significantly. Recognizing the importance of addressing these dangers, Leo Club of University of Colombo and the Rotaract Club of Ratnapura collaboratively organized project Cyber Suraksha. As the First Phase of the project, we organized an awareness session aimed at educating university students on cyber bullying and cybercrimes.
Held on November 6 at the University of Colombo, the event brought together experts and students to shed light on these pressing issues and explore solutions. The session began by highlighting the impact of cyber bullying, an issue that has deeply affected the mental health of countless individuals. The speakers emphasized the importance of awareness and resilience in facing these challenges, urging participants to stand against bullying in all its forms.
The session was graced by two distinguished speakers, Mr. Ayeshmantha Gayan and Mr. Leo Nisal Dulmith (FLM), both highly regarded in their fields. Mr. Gayan, an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Private and Comparative Law and an Attorney at Law, offered insights into the legal framework for combating cybercrimes in Sri Lanka. Mr. Dulmith, the District President of Leo District 306C1 and an Attorney at Law, shared his expertise on leadership and the importance of fostering safe online spaces. Their thought-provoking presentations left a lasting impact on the audience, inspiring them to take proactive measures to secure their digital lives. The interactive format of the session encouraged participants to share their experinces and ask questions, creating a supportive atmosphere where sensitive topics could be addressed openly.
Cyber Suraksha was more than just an awareness program; it was a step toward building a safer, more respectful digital environment for everyone. The success of the event reflects the growing need for initiatives like Cyber Suraksha to tackle the evolving challenges of the digital age. Leo Club of University of Colombo and the Rotaract Club of Ratnapura have set a remarkable example of collaboration and commitment, paving the way for future projects that address critical societal issues.
