Survival 2.0
Survival 2.0 is the project with three phases under the project category of Disaster Management and Prevention. Due to lack of awareness and preparedness, man-made or natural disasters cause heavy damages on people’s property as well as some may lose their lives
The 1st phase was conducted on 06th March of 2020 as a school awareness program with a practical session on disaster management and prevention by lecturer Cpl. Samantha Thushara with support of other NBRO officers at WP/ Mathugama Kithulgoda Junior College that was experienced landslide disaster before. The support of disaster Management Department of Sri-Lanka, the coordinating support of Lt. Col. Sujith Kulasekara was very appreciable.
The second phase of the project was executed as an event on social media on how to prepare for the future that has been threatened by COVID 19 virus that has been spread all over the world. The event encouraged people to upload videos on how can use quarantine period effectively such as home gardening to face future food shortage. Videos can upload to the Facebook page of Leo club of University Of Colombo through the link shared on social media.
As the 3rd phase of the project, the video uploaded on YouTube on disaster management and prevention discussion, was done between Mr. K.A.D.P.K Kodipplli, deputy director and media spokesmen of Disaster Management Department of Sri Lanka and project chairperson Leo Nimesha Dilhara. The project Survival 2.0 was completed successfully beyond the expectations with the valuable support of the project committee members, board of the club and the Leo club members.
