Project Sahurda Yathra 2.0- Phase 3
“Sahurda Yathra 2.0” is one of the significant projects organized by Leo Club of University of Colombo for the second consecutive time, under the category of helping hand to differently-abled, consisting of three phases with the prime purpose of encouraging people with disabilities to start their own business or a job to improve their living standards and to improve their physical and mental health.
People with disabilities need our help to stand up for improvements in their lives. Among them, the dependent war heroes who defended the freedom of ours are very much special. And it is our responsibility to help them for the well-being of their lives as a token of gratitude. Therefore as the third phase of Sahurda Yathra 2.0, Leo Club of University of Colombo attended a ceremony to provide essentials to uplift the living standards of our dependent war heroes at Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force in Kosgama, on 5th of March 2021 from 10.00 a.m. onwards. This army camp takes care of the dependent war heroes who need assistance and therefore Leo club of University of Colombo mainly donated wheelchairs, computer, water filter, liquid hand sanitizers and face masksfor them to uplift the living standards of war heroes.
Ultimately, fulfilling the phase objective, to uplift the living standards and to enhance the well-being of the dependent war heroes, this program was successfully concluded with the contribution of many parties. Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Commander of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force was the chief guest of the event. Also, the Deputy Commander Major General Christy Jayasinghe, Main Staff Officer Brigadier Rohitha Aluwihare, Colonel Sampath Bandara and Colonel Nalindra Mahawithanaparticipated on this event as senior officers. Special thank goes to everyone who donated monetary, project committee members and all the club members for the immense support that they are given to this program. Also, the members of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force were very much thankful for the Leo club of University of Colombo for selecting their establishment on this valuable program.
