Arogya 4.0 – Phase 01
Malnutrition is one of the major risks for the lives of people. It may lead to the risk of death, slow growth and impaired brain development which may finally affect the learning capacity and school performance of the children. Statistics based on the UNICEF report show that there are 488 voluntary orphanages currently in Sri Lanka and only few orphanages are fully compliant with the current standard of care.
By considering the above-mentioned need of providing a remedy to Malnutrition, the first phase of the project “Arogya 4.0” was aimed to provide a healthy meal to increase the immunization and to ensure the health by reducing the malnutrition of the children residing at underprivileged orphanages.
Upon gathering the details of orphanages, the organizing committee selected the most suitable orphanages to be benefited from the first phase of the project “Arogya 4.0”.
All the nutritious packs were donated to Galanigama Dharmachakra Child Foundation and Gangodawila Girls Child Development Center. It was a memorable moment as the members were able to witness how much the children were thankful for the food packages. Further, the representatives of two orphanages described the importance of providing nutritious food to these children for them to be healthier.
Therefore, we UOC LEOS believe that by offering nutritious food against the malnutrition, we were able to assist the children in an impactful manner to become healthy and to enhance their immunization. -Leo Methma Athauda
