Be their Vision - Phase 01 - II initiative

                  BE THEIR VISION 9.0

        ”Inspiring Hope, Enhancing Vision”

                         Eyes for Life

We would like to humbly and proudly announce that the Leo Club of University of Colombo “Be Their Vision 9.0” project was held this year for the 9th consecutive time. This project, dedicated to support visually impaired individuals, aims to improve their welfare and wellbeing.

In today’s fast-paced, digital age, our eyes have become one of the most overworked parts of the body. From prolonged hours in front of computer screens to constant scrolling through smartphones, the increasing use of digital devices is taking a toll on our vision. With the overwhelming use of digital devices, many people in our university community experience eye strain, fatigue, dry eyes, and even blurred vision. However, despite these symptoms, the majority of individuals do not take necessary preventive actions. In many cases, eye conditions go undetected and untreated, leading to more severe vision-related problems in the long term.

In response to these growing concerns, on October 16th, 2024, as part of our project, we conducted an eye screening program at the Faculty of Management and Finance premises in the University of Colombo, partnering with Vision Care Optical Services (Pvt)Ltd. The program was held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and we were thrilled to see participants not only from the Faculty of Management and Finance but also from various other faculties. During the program, free eye check-ups were provided to all participants, and those in need received valuable guidance and necessary recommendations on maintaining their eye health. This initiative, part of the Be Their Vision 9.0 project, highlighted the importance of early detection and timely intervention in preventing serious eye conditions.

Finally, we extend our sincere appreciation to Vision Care Optical Services (Pvt) Ltd for partnering with us to make this program a success. Additionally, we express our thanks to Professor H.M. Nihal Hennayake, the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance and the faculty staff for their invaluable support. A special note of appreciation goes to all the members of our project team, whose dedication and hard work ensured the program’s success. The Leo Club of University of Colombo is immensely proud of this collaborative effort.

Remember, your eyes are your window to the world—let’s keep them healthy for the journey ahead.
