Sasiri Hetak - Phase 02

                           Sasiri Hetak - Phase 02

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”

On October 18th, 2024, Leo Club of University of Colombo embarked on the second phase of the "Sasiri Hetak" school renovation project at G/Dellawa National College, Dellawa. Our mission was to transform the learning environment into one that would inspire both students and teachers. This time, we took on the renovation of a classroom by painting desks, chairs, and walls to breathe new life into the space.

Some of our dedicated members journeyed to Neluwa on October 16th, where we stayed at a fellow Leo’s home, close to the school. What began as a mission to improve a classroom turned into an unforgettable experience. The following day, we dove headfirst into repairs, fueled by enthusiasm and camaraderie. More members joined us as the day progressed, working hand in hand to bring the classroom back to life. That evening, we rewarded ourselves with a trip to a nearby river, where the sound of flowing water and the beauty of nature became the perfect antidote to our hard work. We laughed, relaxed, and made memories to last a lifetime.

The grand moment arrived on October 18th, when we held a small ceremony to unveil the newly renovated classroom. The school community welcomed us with open arms and delicious refreshments. One of our members delivered an inspiring motivational speech that truly resonated with the students. The gratitude from both students and teachers was overwhelming and, every smile and "thank you" made all our efforts worthwhile.

As we reflected on the day, a profound sense of fulfillment washed over us. We knew that our collective hard work had made a real difference in the lives of these students. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the principal, teachers, students, local community, our Leo Club president, vice presidents, and every member of Leo Club of University of Colombo for their unwavering support throughout this journey. While the road was challenging, the ultimate reward—knowing we had positively impacted the lives of others—filled us all with immense joy.
