Be Their Vision 9.0 - Phase 01 - I initiative
Gift of Sight
1st Phase of Project Be Their Vision 9.0
We would like to humbly and proudly announce that the Leo Club of University of Colombo “Be Their Vision 9.0” project was held this year for the 9th consecutive time. This project, dedicated to support visually impaired and blind individuals, aims to improve their welfare and wellbeing.
An eye donation campaign is selected for the first phase of the “Be Their Vision 9.0” project called “Gift of Sight”. It was done on 4th October 2024. In collaborating with the National Eye Bank, the phase was designed to engage with people from all walks of life, encouraging them to become registered donors. The rationale behind this initiative was to give individuals a chance to leave a lasting legacy by donating their eyes, thus helping those who are visually impaired regain their sight. By creating a platform for awareness and action, the campaign effectively reached out to those who wanted to contribute to society in a meaningful way. The initiative not only raised awareness about the significance of eye donation but also highlighted the critical role that donors play in restoring sight to those suffering from corneal blindness. During this phase, participants were given detailed explanations of how their eye donation could make a profound difference in someone’s life, fostering a sense of community responsibility.
It is with great joy that we announce the successful completion of this significant social service initiative. The Leo Club of University of Colombo is proud to have played a role in making a difference in the lives of the visually impaired and looks forward to continuing this journey of service in the future.
