The main objective of the project “ දිවිසරු ” is to help people who are feeling suffered with poverty and initiating new pathways to build their own life which they can live happily & optimistically. Therefore, through our second phase, we introduced soap production to the rural population as an easy self-employment opportunity that allows entrepreneurs to conquer the local market. Project Uplift – Phase Two: Rise to Lead: Outbound Training Camp Leo Club of University of Colombo successfully organized Project Uplift – Phase Two: Rise to Lead , an outbound leadership training camp designed for undergraduates across all academic years. This initiative aimed to empower students with essential leadership qualities, practical skills, and the confidence required to face future challenges. The program commenced at 9.00 AM with great enthusiasm, bringing together a diverse group of participants from various academic backgrounds.   Project Uplift – Phase One: Lead 360° Workshop Series Leo Club of University of Colombo successfully organized Project Uplift - Phase One: 360° Workshop Series, designed with the aim of helping university students to acquire essential knowledge and skills necessary for successful careers in today’s competitive world. This was done in collaboration with the University of Colombo’s Career Guidance Unit. Over the course of this program, five comprehensive workshop sessions were carried out, with around 300 students from various faculties participating.   The One Thing Cyclone Survivors Needed More Than Rice When the Leo Club of University of Colombo started planning Project Survival Phase 1: Manusaviya, the list looked straightforward. Rice, water, medicine. The usual things people need after a disaster. But someone suggested adding cleaning equipment and sanitary materials. It seemed odd at first. Were mops really a priority after a cyclone? The team decided to pack them anyway, just in case. That decision would prove more important than anyone expected. The Dithwa cyclone had left a trail of destruction. Trees were down. Homes were damaged. And everywhere, there was mud. Thick, heavy mud that covered floors, furniture, and clothes. The team arrived at the first village with vans full of supplies, ready to help however they could. What happened next surprised them. When they started unloading, people didn't rush toward the rice. Project Dayada - Phase 02 Nawa jiwa Leo Club of the University of Colombo successfully carried out the Phase 2 project Dayada titled “Nawa jiwa” on 26th February 2026 at the premises of Sri Sumamarama Viharaya, South Etiyawala. This phase focused on improving the financial literacy and technical knowledge. The program empowered the elders. We chose this project because many elders in our society face challenges in understanding modern banking systems, digital technology, and financial security, which are essential in today’s world. As a university committed to community service, we recognized the importance of empowering senior citizens with practical knowledge while also preserving their valuable cultural heritage.   PROJECT ID PHASE 01 – SAFE STOP UOC LEOS BLOG On 01st February 2026, Phase One of Project ID of Leo club university of Colombo was successfully completed and handed over to the public in a rural area of the Kilinochchi District. This phase focused on renovating a bus stop that had been severely damaged for a long period of time and was no longer safe or usable for the community. Public transportation is essential in this area, especially for school students and daily commuters. Due to the poor condition of the bus stop, passengers were forced to wait without proper shelter, exposing them to rain and strong sunlight. School students were the most affected, as they lacked a safe place to wait before and after school. After identifying this issue through observation and community interaction, our team selected the renovation of this bus stop as the first phase of Project ID.  Project Diriya Pranama - Phase 2: “Prathibha Savibala (ප්‍රතිභා සවිබල)” Leo Club of University of Colombo successfully carried out the second phase of Project Diriya Pranama, titled “Prathibha Savibala (ප්‍රතිභා සවිබල)”, on 4th March 2026 at the Daya Mina Centre for Differently Abled in Nugegoda.
