        Routing Change for a Better Tomorrow "We didn't just plant trees - we planted unity for the future."   On July 25th, Leo Club of University of Colombo once again embraced its environmental mission with unwavering dedication through the Leo Tree Plantation Challenge 2025 - Season 6, held Paragasthota Vidyaloka Vidyalaya. Guided by the powerful slogan "Rooting Change for a Better Tomorrow". This initiative transcended beyond mere planting, it became a symbol of unity, responsibility and the vision of a greener, kinder world. This year's challenge stood out as a unique collaboration with the environmental pioneers of Paragasthota Vidyaloka Vidyalaya, creating a vibrant synergy between youth leaders and young environmental stewards. It wasn't just about adding greenery to the earth, it was about building lasting bonds between people, nature, and purpose.                  ආශිර්වාද පූජා'25 Every religion holds the truth, just as every heart holds faith    Leo club of University of Colombo successfully completed the First Project of Leoistic Year 2025/26. “Ashirwada Pooja ‘25”, a multi-faith blessing ceremony held on 05th and 09th July 2025 to welcome the new Leoistic Year 2025/26 with hopes for peace, unity, and prosperity. As the part of this project, we visited four religious places. On 05th of July we visited Mayurapathy Sri BathraKali Amman Kovil, Wellawatta, St. Mary’s Church, Bambalapitiya, and Jumma Mosque, Wellawatta. On 09th of July we visited the Dalada Maligawa, Kandy. Leo Blaze'25 - Phase 02

 Leo Blaze’25 – Phase 2 - Vires Nova: A New Strength Through Sports Leo Blaze’25 continued its powerful journey of youth empowerment through sports with the launch of its second phase, titled “Vires Nova”, meaning “new strength.” Following the success of Phase 1, “Hand to Hand,” which focused on providing sports equipment and fitness training to underprivileged schoolchildren, Phase 2 turned the spotlight toward inter-university competition to celebrate skill, sportsmanship, and unity among Sri Lankan youth. The first part of Phase 2 was held on April 29, 2025, at the University of Colombo premises, where the Leo Blaze’25 Invitational Inter-University Volleyball Trophy took place. Teams from six leading universities joined the tournament: University of Colombo, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, SLITT, SLTC, KIU Sri Lanka, and University of Moratuwa. Arogya 7.0 - Phase 03

  Project Suwasara – Nourishing Health, Empowering Communities.   Continuing the impactful journey of Arogya 7.0, Project Suwasara was successfully carried out on the 28th of April 2025 at the Gangabada Community Hall in Paliyagoda. With a focused mission to uplift public health standards, this initiative targeted vulnerable communities residing in slums and line houses. The project tackled pressing concerns such as food safety, maternal and child nutrition, and overall health awareness. It was designed not just to provide knowledge, but to empower families with the tools and habits needed to build healthier futures. The day’s proceedings began with a welcome speech from the project chairperson, emphasizing the importance of safe food practices and nutritious eating. The vibrant spirit of community engagement was palpable in Padukka on April 22nd, 2025, as the Leo Club of University of Colombo rolled out Phase 2 of their impactful ආරෝග්‍යා 7.0 project, aptly named "පෝෂණීය හෙටක්" – A Healthier Tomorrow. This initiative wasn't just about distributing seeds; it was about cultivating knowledge, fostering self-reliance, and nurturing a healthier future for the residents of Padukka. Imagine families receiving not just the potential for fresh, nutritious food, but also the know-how to bring that potential to life. That's precisely what Arogya 7.0 achieved. Each participating household was provided with eight diverse varieties of vegetable seeds and a guava sapling, a tangible starting point for their own home garden. But the Leos understood that the gift of seeds is only as valuable as the knowledge to cultivate them.         Alert 8.0 - 3rd Phase - Husmata Idak Easing the Burden of Pediatric Cancer through Compassion and Care In country like Sri Lanka, pediatric cancer is not just a diagnosis. It is a long, exhausting journey that tests the limits of physical, emotional, and financial endurance. Children and their families, especially those from rural and underserved areas, often face heartbreaking choices: whether to buy life-saving medicine, pay for food, or secure transport to the hospital. For many, these are not isolated decisions, but daily struggles. The dire need for continuous support systems both medical and emotional cannot be overstated. In light of this reality, Leo Club of University of Colombo launched Phase 3, the last phase of Project Alert 8.0, titled “Husmata Idak”, a name that beautifully translates to "A Space to Breathe." Project Survival - Phase 02

  A Tank of Hope : Supporting Communities in Crisis On the 29th of April 2025, Leo Club of University of Colombo continued its impactful journey through the Survival project with its second phase, a heartfelt initiative to support drought-affected communities. Falling under the category of Disaster Management and Prevention, this phase focused on Supipi Pre-School in Karuwala Gahawatta, Maho, where access to clean water had become a pressing concern due to ongoing dry weather conditions. Our team began the journey aboard the Yal Devi train from Pettah at 5:55 a.m., reaching Maho around 9:00 a.m. We then traveled to the preschool and arrived around 10:00 a.m. with our donation, a large water tank meant to provide sustainable water storage for the children and staff of the preschool. The donation was more than a mere gesture.it was a symbol of support for a community struggling to meet its basic needs. The joy on the children’s faces as they welcomed us was truly heartwarming. ...
