Arogya 7.0 - Phase 02

The vibrant spirit of community engagement was palpable in Padukka on April 22nd, 2025, as the Leo Club of University of Colombo rolled out Phase 2 of their impactful ආරෝග්‍යා 7.0 project, aptly named "පෝෂණීය හෙටක්" – A Healthier Tomorrow. This initiative wasn't just about distributing seeds; it was about cultivating knowledge, fostering self-reliance, and nurturing a healthier future for the residents of Padukka.

Imagine families receiving not just the potential for fresh, nutritious food, but also the know-how to bring that potential to life. That's precisely what Arogya 7.0 achieved. Each participating household was provided with eight diverse varieties of vegetable seeds and a guava sapling, a tangible starting point for their own home garden.

But the Leos understood that the gift of seeds is only as valuable as the knowledge to cultivate them. That's why they went the extra mile, offering comprehensive guidance on planting, nurturing, and harvesting their new crops. An informative leaflet accompanied the seeds and saplings, ensuring that even those new to gardening felt empowered to get their hands dirty and watch their efforts blossom.

This hands-on approach underscores the core mission of Arogya 7.0: to empower individuals and families to take control of their nutrition and well-being. By encouraging home gardening, the project aims to promote healthier eating habits, increase access to fresh produce, and foster a sense of self-sufficiency within the community.

The success of Phase 2 in Padukka serves as a shining example of how youth-led initiatives can make a tangible difference in local communities. By focusing on sustainable solutions and empowering individuals with knowledge and resources, Arogya 7.0 is truly planting the seeds for a healthier and more resilient tomorrow, one home garden at a time.
