Leo Blaze’25 – Phase 2 - Vires Nova: A New Strength Through Sports
Leo Blaze’25 continued its powerful journey of youth empowerment through sports with the launch of its second phase, titled “Vires Nova”, meaning “new strength.” Following the success of Phase 1, “Hand to Hand,” which focused on providing sports equipment and fitness training to underprivileged schoolchildren, Phase 2 turned the spotlight toward inter-university competition to celebrate skill, sportsmanship, and unity among Sri Lankan youth.

The first part of Phase 2 was held on April 29, 2025, at the University of Colombo premises, where the Leo Blaze’25 Invitational Inter-University Volleyball Trophy took place. Teams from six leading universities joined the tournament: University of Colombo, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, SLITT, SLTC, KIU Sri Lanka, and University of Moratuwa. The matches were filled with energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork, as each team gave their best on the court. After a series of exciting games, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura emerged as champions in both the men’s and women’s categories, showcasing excellent coordination and team spirit.

The second part of Phase 2 was held the very next day, on April 30, 2025, at the Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka in Torrington, where the Leo Blaze’25 Invitational Inter-University Carrom Championship took place. This event brought together skilled carrom players from the University of Colombo, University of Kelaniya, University of Moratuwa, University of Peradeniya, University of Ruhuna, and University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The atmosphere was one of quiet concentration and determination as players battled it out with precision and strategy. After many thrilling rounds, Team A from the University of Moratuwa won the Men’s Championship, while Team A from the University of Kelaniya secured the Women’s Championship.

Phase 2 of Leo Blaze’25 was not just about winning trophies. It was about giving young people the chance to grow stronger together—through sport, friendship, and fair competition. These events helped students form new connections, boost their confidence, and discover the true value of discipline and teamwork. Just like Phase 1, where the project lit the spark of hope for children in need, Phase 2 continued to build on that dream—this time by bringing university students together to celebrate strength and unity.
Leo Blaze’25 proudly continues its mission: to create a generation of young leaders who believe in their dreams, support one another, and grow hand in hand through the spirit of sport.
