Prarthana Phase 2
Leo Club of the University of Colombo has organized the project "Prarthana 5.0" under the project category of "Peace, Religious, and Cultural Activities" for the fifth consecutive year. The primary goal of this project is to provide the community with the necessary understanding to create and improve harmony and overcome communication barriers between different religions, cultures, customs, and communities by improving religious reconciliation and coexistence in society.
This project consists of three phases. The second phase of this project is known as "Sabediyawa."
The main objectives of this project were fulfilled by conducting motivation and guiding sessions, group activities with an entertainment program, empowering self-employment of people living in rural areas, and promoting peace and unity among different nations for small and medium-scale entrepreneurs in Sinhasiripura, Maduruketiya, Akkara 7, Thalawa, Anapallawa, and the Oil Farm in Monaragala district.
The project committee selected a proper plan for the project implementation to make the process flow smoothly. They selected rural villages in the Monaragala district according to the details gathered from the team members to offer a more effective outcome. Both Sinhala and Tamil people live in this area was the main reason to select this area for this program.
The project committee created a unique way to give better knowledge and experience to students and parents in this area. Apart from the guidelines, they also decided to provide the necessary contact details of government and private institutions of Sri Lanka for small and medium-scale entrepreneurs.
This program was conducted on February 6, 2023, at Maduruketiya playground from 3.00 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. as planned. During this program, both Sinhala and Tamil students and their parents actively participated in the activities and improved their skills happily. We offered gifts for the winners of fun activities. A dance and a play were presented by the students and parents of the village. In the end, both Sinhala and Tamil students and parents sang joyfully and peacefully. "Sabediyawa," the second phase of the project "Prarthana 5.0," was completed successfully as we planned. We achieved our objective of the project by empowering small and medium-scale entrepreneurs and building peace, harmony, and unity among the nations of the area.
