The Leo Club of the University of Colombo has organized the project "Prarthana 5.0" under the project category of "Peace, Religious, and Cultural Activities" for the fifth consecutive year. The primary goal of this project is to provide the community with the necessary understanding to create and improve harmony and overcome communication barriers between different religions, cultures, customs, and communities by improving religious reconciliation and coexistence in society.
This project consists of three phases. The third phase of this project is known as "Sahajeewa". This program was held by organizing an awareness session for students of the University of Colombo to share knowledge and experience in different religious and cultural activities among students with the aim of promoting peace and unity.
The project committee has organized a proper agenda to overcome the project objective. This program was held virtually from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm via the zoom platform on March 17, 2023. During this program, students actively participated and shared their knowledge and experience of different nations, religions, and cultures.
Some students of the university gave introductory speeches about Sinhala, Tamil, Barger, and Muslim cultures. They discussed the origins of those nations and their inherent characteristics. A "Wes" dance and a "Janakavi" performance were presented to represent the Sinhalese culture. In addition, the program was coloured by a Tamil dance and a Tamil song. Also, English and Muslim songs and dances were presented. Through the third phase, the project “Prarthana” was completed successfully.
