Diyani 6.0 - Phase I "Her Voice"
We,
the Leo Club of University of Colombo, part of Leo District 306 C1, selected MAS
Intimates – Linea Clothing located in Pallekelle, Kandy district as the venue
for the first phase, titled “Her Voice”, of Project Diyani 7.0. It comprised an
awareness session on domestic violence, gender equality, and the prevention of abuse
against women. This impactful awareness session was successfully held on the 7th
of February,2024 starting from 10.30 am, with over 180 participants.
The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to the participants by Project Chairperson Leo Ayesha Kumaraarachchi. The occasion was further enriched by the presence of the Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Mallika Rammulla and the Counsellor Mrs. Waruni Hettiarachchi. The speakers shared their insights and experiences with the participants. The main objective of the project was to empower women and create a violence-free society. Participants gained insights into preventing violence against women and learned about gender equality and its importance.
The extensive knowledge and experience of the two speakers greatly benefited the audience. The session provided valuable insights, empowering participants with knowledge and strategies to recognize and address domestic violence effectively. At the end of the session, the project committee gave tokens of appreciation to the guest speakers.
The success of this project is attributed to Club President Leo Shamod Gammanpila and his team, as well as all those hearts who actively participated and worked hard for this event.With
the successful conclusion of the event, the first phase of Project Diyani was
wrapped up with numerous positive feedbacks. Together let’s pave the way for a
brighter, safer for women everywhere.
