“Sahurda Viyamana”– 03rd Phase
In the third phase of the project "Sahurda Viyamana," organized by Leo Club of University of Colombo, a heartwarming musical program took center stage on the 23rd of January 2024. The event took place in Ward 11 of Base Hospital, Homagama from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., aiming to use the power of music as a therapeutic tool to enhance the well-being of psychiatric patients.Patients at the Base Hospital, Homagama were treated to a unique experience as they enjoyed a musical session filled with joy and comfort. The Leo Club members actively engaged with the patients, singing songs and interacting with them to create a positive environment. The initiative sought to bring a sense of healing through the music, recognizing its potential to positively impact the overall mental health of the patients.
The event featured a special guest, Mr. Nuwan
Ranasinghe, a renowned radio announcer who has worked in Sitha FM. Mr.
Ranasinghe played a crucial role in the program by providing insights into the
significance of each song. His expertise added depth to the musical experience,
offering patients a richer understanding of the therapeutic benefits embedded
in the melodies. His presence further emphasized the commitment of all involved
to make the event a success. The intention was to create an environment of joy
and connection, acknowledging the importance of human interaction in the
healing process.With refreshments provided for the patients, the third phase of
project "Sahurda Viyamana" proved to be a memorable experience for
all involved.
As
the musical session came to an end, the committee members took a moment to
express their sincere gratitude to all those who played a vital role in
ensuring the success of this meaningful event along with Mr. Nuwan Ranasinghe,
all participants, and the group of girls who sang songs. Finally, the phase was
a truly impactful and memorable event for the psychiatric patients.
