Project Nisagini 6.0 – Phase 03 ~ හරිත නාගරීකරණය

 Project Nisagini 6.0 – Phase 03 ~ හරිත නාගරීකරණය

Planting a garden is like writing poetry with the Earth, each blooms a verse, and every leaf a stroke of nature's paintbrush on the canvas of your soul.

The Leo Club of University of Colombo organized Project Niasagini for the sixth time in three phases. The first two phases of this we completed successfully. This article is about our third phase.

In the third phase, we had to make a garden in a town area which hasn't proper space for gardening. In this case, we searched for a suitable place to do this. We found an orphanage in Punchi Borella, named Lawris Children's Home, which doesn't have a proper space to make a garden. Our project chairperson dedicatedly discussed with them and field expertise and made a proper plan with us. First, we raised funds for this purpose and our team went to the orphanage and dedicatedly worked to make the little space for a little garden.

We collected ice cream boxes, plastic cups, cans, plastic bottles, etc for this purpose. By placing them creatively, we created the necessary environment for planting fruits in a small space. More than twenty kinds of herbs, flowers, herbs, vegetables, and fruits were used for this purpose. Organized in this way, we successfully brought out this phase on the 25th of January.

As we water our dreams and watch our garden bloom, we're reminded that nature has a way of bringing joy and tranquility to even the busiest of townscapes. Our gardening project is not just about growing plants; it's about cultivating a sense of community, fostering a connection with the Earth, and transforming our town into a haven of greenery. Let this be an inspiration for more projects that turn concrete landscapes into flourishing gardens, one seed at a time.

This little green sanctuary provides the children in the orphanage with a nurturing environment to learn and play, fostering growth and connection with the beauty of nature.

Special thanks to everyone who joined hands with us on this journey, our dedicated Leo Club members, the individuals who shared valuable gardening advice, and, most importantly, our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful people in the orphanage. Your collaboration and support have brought life to this project, and we extend our sincere thanks for making our shared vision blossom into reality.
