The Elicit
In Sri Lanka's digital realm, a silent war wages against cybercrime's invisible threats. With our world more connected than ever, cyber consciousness is essential. To address this, the Leo Club of University of Colombo partnered with experts for a groundbreaking project. Our aim, delve into public awareness of cybercrime and its legal consequences.
On
March 27th, after meticulous research efforts, we launched a groundbreaking
study at the University of Colombo. Leo Thimira Uyanhewage FLM and Leo Nisal
Dulmith FLM joined us as esteemed guests for the ceremony. With their
invaluable support, our aim was to shed light on the prevalent ignorance
surrounding cybercrime. Our research team collaborated with esteemed experts
who generously shared their insights through articles. Individuals such as Data
Engineer Udari Kaushalya, Attorney at Law Nisal Dulmith, and Leo Lion Sandun
Perera contributed valuable perspectives. Together, we delved into the state of
cyber consciousness in Sri Lanka, conducting surveys and analyzing data to
assess public awareness of cyber threats.
What we uncovered was both startling and concerning. Despite the pervasive use of digital technology, many Sri Lankans remain unaware of the risks posed by cybercrime, including scams and identity theft.
However,
there is reason for optimism. Through education and community collaboration, we
can empower individuals to protect themselves online. Armed with knowledge and
unity, we can cultivate a cyber-aware society that is equipped to confront
digital threats head-on.
As
we conclude this research project, our journey toward cyber awareness is far
from over. With the insights gained, we are poised to continue advancing our
efforts. Together, we will strive to create a digital landscape where everyone
is informed, secure, and empowered in the face of cybercrime.

Leo
