MATHIN THORA HETAK - Phase 03
School Drama Competition Award Ceremony
Leo Club of University of Colombo organizes around 40 projects each year, most of which are social welfare-oriented. Among them, our project—executed under the theme "Mathin Thora Hetak"—is aimed at curbing the rapidly spreading tendency of the use of intoxicating substances in society; the first phase of which was successfully completed at Nawadiganthaya Youth Prevention Treatment & Rehabilitation center and the second phase at Moratuwa bus stop, whilst the third and final phases as shown below.

Drama is a very powerful form of communication by which we can effectively convey our objectives to society in a very interesting and engaging manner. Therefore, as the final stage of our project, we decided to organize a drama competition among schools in the nation with the objective of creating awareness and stopping the extensive abuse of drugs among students.
On the morning of February 25th, our team met at the University of Colombo's College House Auditorium to present the winning school dramas from among the numerous plays we had received in advance and to felicitate the participants.Among the guests who were with us on this special day were the renowned actress Mrs. Wasanti Ranwala and the Leo District 306 C1 President, Mr. Nisal Dulmith FLM, who graciously accepted our invitation and was present with us on this day to celebrate as special guests.

Our program, beginning with a traditional oil lamp, was also complemented by a segment of traditional dance. To usher in the celestial alignment, there was an opportunity given to those who attended to witness a series of school plays aimed at encouraging students' participation in competition. In addition, during the event, there was an opportunity to listen to a valuable speech by Leo Nisal Dulmith, FLM.
After completing this third phase, our whole project will be over. A project committee has worked day and night to complete it successfully. Though it may look simple from the outside, our project is dedicated to rescuing even one soul from the grip of addiction. We fully fulfill our part in transforming the future into a haven for our children.
