   Strengthening Healthcare at the University of Colombo


Continuing our commitment to social sustainability and community well-being, the Leo Club of the University of Colombo, in collaboration with the Oruwala Lions Club, completed Sathkara Phase 2 under the slogan "නවමු රටකට මනුදම් මෙහෙවරක්." This initiative aimed to enhance healthcare accessibility by donating essential medical equipment to the medical unit of the University of Colombo. We were honored to have Dr. Rajitha Silva as our Chief Guest, whose presence and support added great value to this meaningful project.


As part of this initiative, we proudly donated a wheelchair, a dental mirror set, and a BP monitor to the medical unit. These essential items will significantly improve the unit’s ability to provide better medical care, ensuring that students, academic staff, and non-academic staff have access to more efficient and responsive healthcare services. By equipping the medical unit with these resources, we contribute to a safer and healthier environment for everyone at the university.


The success of Sathkara Phase 2 was made possible through the generous support of the Oruwala Lions Club and the dedication of our Leo Club members. Their commitment to uplifting the university community through meaningful initiatives reflects the true spirit of service and leadership. Through this joint effort, we have strengthened the university’s healthcare infrastructure, ensuring that medical assistance is more accessible to those in need.


This initiative is another step in our ongoing mission to support and empower communities. As we move forward, the Leo Club of the University of Colombo remains committed to creating sustainable projects that bring long-term benefits to those around us. Sathkara Phase 2 is not just about donating medical equipment—it is about making a lasting impact on healthcare accessibility within our university.

        A Drop of Kindness, A Life Saved Continuing its mission to uplift and support the community, the Leo Club of the University of Colombo successfully organized හුස්ම – Phase 3 of the Care Gen project. Held on March 26, 2025, at FMF Hall No. 03, this blood donation campaign was a testament to the club’s unwavering commitment to promoting health and well-being. With an overwhelming response from students, faculty, and staff, the event became a symbol of selflessness and solidarity, proving that a single act of kindness can indeed save lives.
