Project Off-Grid
Project Off-Grid
First Phase -SDG Lens
Project Off-Grid is a youth-led initiative that focuses on bringing attention to the less-focused Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and encouraging meaningful action to achieve them. The project promotes global collaboration among young leaders, and in its initial stage, more than 20 foreign Leo Clubs joined hands with us. Highlighting the strong international spirit behind the initiative and reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility in achieving sustainable development.
The first phase of the project, “SDG Lens,”
was successfully concluded on 1st February via Zoom, with the participation of
numerous Leos from Sri Lanka and partner countries. The event followed a
well-organized agenda featuring presentations, speeches, guest sessions, and
interactive segments. A special highlight of the program was the contribution
of video presentations from 10 countries, including India, Nepal, Brazil,
Nigeria, Uganda, Liberia, and Ghana, sharing their perspectives and commitment
toward the overlooked SDGs, which added a powerful global dimension to the
event.
The session began with a welcome speech by Leo Nethmini Rathnayake, Project Chairperson of Project Off-Grid. Inspiring addresses were delivered by Leo Damith Kaushalya, District Assistant Treasurer of Leo District 306 D6, and Leo Miran Malinga, President of Leo Club of University of Colombo. The guest session was conducted by District Vice President Leo Lion Ravindi Hettiarachchi PFLM of Leo District 306 D6. Additionally, Regional Officer, District 322.D, India, Leo Lion Yuwaraj Lath shared valuable thoughts and experiences about the first phase of Project Off-Grid, enriching the discussion with an international perspective.
The success of SDG Lens was made possible by the passion and dedication of many who believed in the vision of Project Off-Grid. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all Leo participants from Sri Lanka and abroad, our collaborating foreign Leo Clubs, distinguished speakers, organisers, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this phase to life. With the momentum and ideas gathered from this journey, we now look forward with excitement to launching the second phase of Project Off-Grid, where these shared insights and suggestions will evolve into real, meaningful action that drives lasting impact.
