Prarthana 8.0 Third Phase -Creating Calm Minds and Happy Hearts

The third phase of the Prarthana 8.0 project, titled Heartful Hopes, was proudly organized by Leo Club of University of Colombo Prarthana Project Committee with the aim of nurturing the mental and emotional well-being of the children at the SOS Children’s Village. This phase was carefully designed to go beyond traditional support by focusing on the inner development of each child, recognizing the importance of emotional strength and peace of mind in their overall growth.

Mainly focused on improving the mental and emotional well-being of the children at the SOS Children’s Village. During this phase, we introduced simple meditation and mindfulness techniques that helped children relax their minds, reduce stress, and understand their emotions better. In addition to meditation, we organized interactive activities such as games, group discussions, and creative sessions that encouraged teamwork, confidence, and self-expression. These activities were carefully designed to create a peaceful and supportive environment where children could feel safe, happy, and valued. Overall, this phase aimed to build inner peace and harmony among the children while strengthening their emotional growth.

Why We Chose This Project

We chose this project because we believe that the true development of a child goes beyond physical needs and education. Mental health and emotional stability are equally important for a child’s growth. Children living in such environments may face emotional challenges, loneliness, or stress, which are often unnoticed. Through this project, we wanted to make a positive difference in their lives by giving them the tools to manage their feelings and build a strong mindset. Meditation and mindful activities were selected because they are simple, effective, and can be practiced anytime, helping children maintain long-term emotional balance and confidence in their daily lives.

 Fundraising and Sponsorship

The success of this phase was made possible through the dedication, creativity and hard work of our team and supporters. We carried out various fundraising activities including selling bookmarks, tickets and running stalls to gather the resources needed for the program. The funds raised were used to organize activities, arrange materials, and ensure that the children had a fun, engaging, and meaningful experience. The enthusiasm and commitment of everyone involved turned these efforts into something truly special making Heartful Hopes a memorable and impactful initiative that brought joy, learning and emotional growth to the children.

Project Execution

The third phase was successfully carried out on the 29th of March 2026 at the SOS Children’s Village, starting from 9.00 a.m. onwards. The day was filled with positive energy, smiles and valuable learning experiences. The organizing team from Leo Club of University of Colombo Prarthana 8.0 project committee worked together efficiently to ensure that all activities were conducted smoothly. The children actively participated in meditation sessions and other activities, showing great enthusiasm and interest. The environment was filled with joy, peace and connection making the day truly memorable for both the children and the volunteers.

A Step Toward a Bigger Mission

This phase of Heartful Hopes is not just the conclusion of an event, but a meaningful step toward a larger and more impactful mission. It reflects our dedication to creating a society where children are not only cared for but also emotionally supported and empowered. Through initiatives like this, we aim to spread awareness about the importance of mental well-being and inspire others to take similar actions. Each small effort contributes to a bigger vision of building a compassionate and understanding community where every child has the opportunity to grow with happiness, confidence and inner peace.
