Nutrition is the Most Valuable Gift You Can Give Your Child: Phase 3 of Project "Arogya" Successfully Concludes

With the vision of building a healthier generation, the third phase of  Project "Arogya" was successfully held on 22nd April 2026, at  Mathwa Thalampitiya Hospital* in Kurunegala under the theme of "A Nutritious Tomorrow." This special program, targeting 50 mothers from the area, primarily aimed to update the health knowledge of mothers—the key decision-makers of a family's well-being. During the session, we emphasized the noble message that **"Proper nutrition and good health habits are the most valuable gifts you can give your child." Accordingly, this awareness mission laid a strong foundation for raising a healthy future generation.

The program focused heavily on food safety and proper food handling techniques. Mothers were trained on technical methods for handling, cooking, and storing food correctly to protect their families from various foodborne illnesses. Additionally,  leaflet  containing vital information on food safety were distributed among the mothers. Demonstrating the practical importance of nutritious food, healthy local Kurakkan Halapa was served to all participants.

Furthermore, the program addressed the serious social issue of improving maternal and child nutrition levels, presenting methods where mothers can directly contribute. A significant part of the session involved identifying conditions such as overweight,
obesity, and malnutrition caused by unhealthy dietary patterns and educating participants on the steps needed to control them. Ultimately, the valuable knowledge and experience gained by these 50 mothers at Mathwa Thalampitiya will undoubtedly be a great strength in improving the health of their families and building a healthy society.
