CINEMANIA The Leo Club of University of Colombo hosted a spine-tingling movie night on October 11, 2023. The event known as 'Cinemania' featured the terrifying horror film 'The Nun 2' and the aroma of fresh popcorn wafting through the air, filled with thrills and chills. But this wasn't just an ordinary movie night. This was organized with the aim of raising funds for the upcoming community service projects of UOC Leo Club. It all began with the idea of organizing a different fundraiser event than traditional ones. Selecting the perfect film for the event was a delightful challenge. Project “Api Apima” World Children's Day is a day to celebrate the pure and boundless joy that children bring into our lives. Waffles and Coffee Hut Leo club of University of Colombo had the incredible opportunity to set up a stall at the Lions Get-Together 2023 event on August 2nd, 2023. Project Sathkara The objective of this project is to enhance the quality of education and encourage reading habits among students by donating books to the libraries of Sri Sumangala College, Iriyawetiya and Bandaranayake College, Hunupitiya. By addressing the need for improving literacy rates, promoting mental health, and fostering personal development in the targeted schools, this project aims to make a positive impact on the students and the community as a whole. The implementation of the project “Sathkara” involved several steps. Club members collected books for the project through extensive sharing and networking, garnering support from various individuals who contributed to the book donations. They worked tirelessly to sort, pack, and transport the collected books to the selected schools.
