The first phase of Together as Humans 8.0, under the theme of Quality Education & Literacy, aimed to change that narrative. Limited access to menstrual hygiene products, the absence of proper disposal facilities, and a lack of accurate and culturally appropriate information often create barriers to girls’ health, confidence and uninterrupted education. Addressing these concerns is essential not only for physical well-being, but also for safeguarding dignity, promoting equality and fostering long-term social progress.   Alert 9.0 is a humanitarian initiative introduced by Leo Club of University of Colombo with the profound objective of supporting children who are affected by cancer. Designed as a comprehensive three-phase mission, the project addresses different facets of the battle against childhood cancer, from public education to direct patient care. As of now, the club has successfully completed the first two phases of this journey. The first phase, “Sihina Piyapath,” laid the foundation by focusing on the power of information through a nationwide awareness campaign.   දිරිය ප්‍රණාම – Phase 01 With the hope of making a real difference in lives of children who can’t move independently, our team hosted a special community outreach event ‘ Diriya Pranama ’   We successfully completed our first phase – ‘Senehase Athwala’ on 12 th January at Sri Sudarmalaya Buddhist Temple, in Galle from 10.30 a.m onwards. Occasion began with blessings of reverted monk of the temple. As a team we donated  wheelchairs for children who need support to move and embrace life move freely. Members of our project found these children by gathering information of the area. For further enrichment the day featured with entertainment event,lasting memories for children and their families.   Project Saubagya – Phase 1: Saara Bhoomi “ Reviving a flood-damaged land and restoring a family’s path to prosperity” Project සෞභාග්‍යය   marked a meaningful beginning with the successful completion of its first phase, “ සාරභූමි ,” carried out on 13th January 2026 in Anuradhapura. This phase focused on restoring a corn cultivation that had been severely damaged by massive floods and the Dithva storm, with the aim of supporting one affected farming family to rebuild their primary source of income and food security. For this family, the corn field was more than land. It was the foundation of their livelihood and daily sustenance. In Sri Lanka, the impact of the adverse effects of the Dithva storm experienced in December 2025. In the farming areas around the nation, the rainstorm flooded various farming regions.
