Project Diabcure 7.0 - Phase 02

In a world where deadlines, lectures, and endless caffeine often rule university life, health usually takes a back seat—especially when it comes to silent conditions like diabetes. But on April 28th, 2025, something powerful happened at Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo. The usual buzz of academic chatter was joined by the hum of medical equipment and warm greetings from volunteers as Project Diabcure 7.0’s second phase, GlucoTrack, came to life. Organized with precision, passion, and a purpose, this phase focused on early detection and awareness of diabetes within the university community. Students, lecturers, cleaning staff, and security officers all stood in the same line—not for grades or promotions, but for health. It was a moment where the hustle paused, and awareness stepped in.

The screening camp, held in collaboration with Forte Diagnostics Laboratory and guided by the expertise of Dr. Lahiru Madhushan, turned an ordinary Monday into a milestone of transformation. Participants were welcomed, registered, and tested for their random blood glucose levels. But the true essence of the project lay beyond the tests—in the conversations, in the leaflets handed out with care, and in the personalized guidance given by Dr. Madhushan. He didn’t just explain numbers on a chart; he translated them into action, prevention, and hope. Whether it was a student with low sugar levels or a staff member unknowingly at risk, each person walked away more informed, more aware, and more empowered.

What made GlucoTrack extraordinary wasn’t just the logistics—it was the ripple it created. A faculty became a hub of health; strangers became allies in wellness. The project not only screened but seeded change, inspiring the university community to take charge of their health. The support of the Dean, the commitment of Leo Club executive committee, and the energy of every volunteer shaped an initiative that felt less like an event and more like a movement. It reminded everyone that prevention begins with knowledge, that small steps matter, and that diabetes, though silent, could be silenced—one drop at a time.
