"දෙටු හිරුසංචලන 2025": A Celebration of Gratitude and Joy for Elders
As part of the third phase of the කෘතගුණ 7.0 project organized by Leo Club of University of Colombo, a heartfelt Avurudu (Sinhala & Tamil New Year) celebration was held under the name දෙටු හිරුසංචලන 2025. This event stood out as a meaningful project dedicated to the elderly community.
Organized specifically for senior staff members above the age of 60 from the university’s non-academic cleaning division, the event took place on April 26th at the Horana Sripalee Grounds. From 10 a.m. onwards, the atmosphere was filled with joy, companionship, and festivity, lasting a full four hours. Around 20 elders participated, accompanied by their supervising officers, ensuring the event ran smoothly and respectfully.

The celebration featured a traditional Avurudu table with festive foods and an array of fun-filled games tailored to bring joy and engagement to the elderly participants. The event was further enhanced by vibrant cultural performances, making it a colourful and heartwarming experience for everyone present. Winners of the games were awarded thoughtful gifts, and every elder in attendance was presented with a commemorative gift pack and dry rations as a token of appreciation and care. The initiative succeeded in offering these elders a day filled with love, laughter, and recognition.
The කෘතගුණ 7.0 project by Leo Club of University of Colombo proudly concluded its final phase of social outreach with this event, standing as a true gesture of human kindness extended toward senior citizens. දෙටු හිරුසංචලන 2025 beautifully honored the spirit of elderhood and left a lasting impression on all who were part of it.
