DiabCure 3.0 - Phase 3

Image
The third and the final phase of the project DiabCure 3.0 focused on those who are already victims of diabetes and on providing a cure for them, addressing an issue they were already facing due to the lack of medical equipment required to carry the insulin provided to them on a daily routine. For this, two hospitals were chosen: Divisional Hospital Katugahahena, and District Hospital Mathugama.      These hospitals were provided with the insulin carriers on the 28th of April 2021. According to the information given by the doctors and the staff, the patients undergo a lot of trouble having to carry the insulin given to them due to the prevailing scarcity of this supporting equipment. Although being unable to distribute the insulin carries directly to the patients, with the series of unfortunate events related to the spreading of COVID-19 virus, the equipment were successfully handed over to the doctors in charge of the patients at both of the selected hospitals to be distribute

As a school is undoubtedly the best place to find a community of young children who are the soon-to-be future of our community as well as of the whole country, making them aware of the prevention of a deadly disease like diabetes is a huge step for the elimination of diabetes from our whole community. The school Nawuththuduwa M.V, was picked for the awareness session and the children of the Advanced Level classes were the beneficiaries of this session held on the 23rd of April. It was our main objective to make these children aware of the disease and of the measures on how to prevent it. After being granted permission from the school and with the support of its very students, everything was arranged and set for the session. Diabetes is a Long term chronic disease which has a lot of negative effects as well as takes the life of many. The project “Diabcure 3.0 was organized as a measure of preventing this disease by conducting checkups for identifying the disease beforehand, spreading awareness and helping current patients in several SriLankan communities by looking into their needs and issues as diabetes patients. This project was conducted in three different phases where the main objective was the prevention and elimination of diabetes in different selected communities. The first phase was basically focused on identifying diabetes patients who are unaware of their medical conditions and identifying people who are most likely to get the disease and who need medical attention accordingly. Towards delivering this to the community we chose to arrange medical checkups for two communities are who are likely to have members who are prone to this disease, the first being elders in an elders home, who doesn’t have

Arogya - Phase 02

We identified that lack of immunity and malnutrition have become one of the main issue among special needs people.  People with disabilities, whether mental or physical, are people in society who must protect their health and well-being. As previously stated, many people with disabilities are neglected by society, and many of them live in isolation from society. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated this situation. As a result, people with disabilities' mental health is deteriorating and also they could not be able to take there their essential meals and medicines properly. Due to the declining living standards of the entire population in Sri Lanka, no one is coming forward to meet the health and nutrition needs of these people. Since the majority of people with disabilities are likely to suffer from lack of these essentials, second phase of the project continued to ensure and increase their immunity and health care.
