Sahurda Wiyamana - Phase VI

The Leo Club of the University of Colombo is organizing a charitable project called “Sahurda Viyamana”, a musical therapy program aimed at healing minds through music. The project comprises six phases, each contributing to the overall goal of promoting well-being through musical therapy. On the 23rd of April, we successfully completed our sixth and last phase of the project at the Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Hospital Ragama. This time we have selected individuals with different disabilities as the audience and about 85 people have joined the program. To further enrich this program, we have invited a resource person to review and lead the musical program. So, to carry out this program we have invited a Sinhala language teacher's consultant Mr. Udaya Bandara Dassanayake as the resource person. The vibrant spirit of Aurudu, the Sinhalese and Tamil New Year, resonated through the halls of the University of Colombo as the Leo Club of University of Colombo once again came together to celebrate this cherished cultural event. With unwavering enthusiasm and a commitment to tradition,we the Leos of UOC marked its second " පුරවර සරසවි සූර්‍ය මංගල්‍යය 2024" celebration on the 23rd of April 2024 , showcasing the richness of Sri Lankan heritage and fostering a sense of unity within the Leos. Held at the University of Colombo premises, the program was held with the participation of dignitaries including Leo Multiple District Vice Presidents, District Presidents, Past Club Presidents, and the Leo Club's executive committee, directors, and members.   Empowering Tomorrow's Environmental Stewards In our ongoing mission to protect our planet, the donation program of waste management equipment is selected for the second phase of Project සත්කාර . It was launched on April 3rd, 2024 at Kottawa North Dharmapala Vidyalaya. This time, we focus on educating and empowering school children on how to take care of the environment by handling waste responsibly. It's an important step in making sure our future is sustainable. The big thing we did was give the school children tools to help manage waste better. We gave them special waste management equipment and reusable garbage bags. These might seem simple, but they remind the children every day about the importance of throwing away trash properly. And, the children are encouraged to start good habits early on. The Leo Club of University of Colombo, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Gothatuwa New Century Leo, proudly presents Project සත්කාර . This project shows how working together as a community can help solve big problems. The main goal of Project සත්කාර is to help people handle plastic waste better by encouraging them to throw away their plastic bottles in the right way and recycle them.
