Sahurda Wiyamana - Phase VI
The Leo Club of the University of Colombo is organizing a charitable project called “Sahurda Viyamana”, a musical therapy program aimed at healing minds through music. The project comprises six phases, each contributing to the overall goal of promoting well-being through musical therapy. On the 23rd of April, we successfully completed our sixth and last phase of the project at the Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Hospital Ragama.
This
time we have selected individuals with different disabilities as the audience
and about 85 people have joined the program. To further enrich this program, we
have invited a resource person to review and lead the musical program. So, to
carry out this program we have invited a Sinhala language teacher's consultant
Mr. Udaya Bandara Dassanayake as the resource person.
The impact of the program was not only felt in the melodies that filled the air but also in the hearts and minds of those present. The feedback from the hospital staff was a testament to the program's success, highlighting its significance in providing solace and joy to patients undergoing rehabilitation.
In the end, it wasn't just about the music; it was about the restoration of hope, the reaffirmation of dignity, and the celebration of resilience. Through their simple act of kindness, Leo Club members touched lives, leaving an indelible mark on the souls of those they encountered.
During
the event, everyone enjoyed music and refreshments. The hospital staff also
liked the program and said it was helpful for the patients. This made everyone
happy because it showed that the program made a positive difference.
Thus, the 6th Phase of Sahurda Viyamana was a success. It showed that music can bring people together and make them feel better. The Leo Club hopes to do more projects like this in the future to help more people through music.
