ALPHABETZ – “Learn Today for Better Tomorrow”
"Alphabetz" is a six-phase project organised by the Leo Club of the University of Colombo. This ongoing project which started last November was completed in six phases by April 2023.
Also as Leos, from this project, we have decided to re-ignite the route of young children's English understanding, which was stolen due to several social and economic challenges which occurred in Sri Lanka in the recent past.
As the Leo Club of the University of Colombo Leo District 306 C1, we opt for CP/M/ Laliambe Primary School for this endeavour because children in this school are from low-income families who found it difficult to learn.
We chose kids in grades three, four, and five. Our purpose was to present them with knowledge that was not uniform. The basic facts that children need to know about the English language have been covered in this workshop while discussing it.
We conducted a variety of activities during this program. Little children were having a good time with the group activities which we carried out. We rewarded every one of them. Finally, we also completed the 6th phase on the 21st of April 2023.
We want to thank everyone who collaborated with us, including our club members, the principal, and teachers at school, as well as everyone else who helped us.
When talking about the final stage, there are many things to talk about. Throughout these six phases, we gathered a lot of experience and memories. Those experiences are very useful as a Leo Club member as well as a good citizen of the country.
Chip Gains once said, "Life opens up when you bring your experiences, but not your expectations, to all you do."
"Alphabetz" is a collection of memorable experiences. From project planning and fundraising until the end of the project, our bond was amazing. That is what social leaders should have. As Leos, it is our wish to work together with this kind of valuable social care.
